portland has lots of talent (oden, roy, aldridge, webster); they might not make it to the playoffs this season because oden is out, but give it a few years they'll be good with oden in the middle and roy out on the perimeter

with that said, you can still make small trades to fill areas of needs, but you gotta keep oden and roy cuz' they are the cornerstone of the blazers team

didn't say it has to be a realistic trade.
i dont think portland has to make any trades really. all the pieces are in place. the only thing i that these pieces are all young and need experience. aldridge will be great, he showed great #s near the end of last year and with oden out, he should get a ton more playing time. travis outlaw is still really young and has a bunch of talent and potential, sometimes he can put up 20+ ppg but he has to play consistently. jack is a nice young PG, he might not be great but he is still pretty decent. and we all know brandon roy will be an allstar in the future, just hope his heel doesnt act up too much during the season. maybe the oden injury will actually help if portland lands a high pick again. if the blazers can get OJ Mayo, Michael Beasley, or Derrick Rose, they will be really good in the future. once oden gets some experience next year, the blazers will be back on the map in say 3 years. i know you what results now, but you must be patient.

I think that something like this trade would be perfect for the youngsters. Cassel is someone that they could realistically aquire and bring that veteran savy to a team that needs leadership. This leaves you with a starting line up of:

Sam Cassell, Brandon Roy, Martell Webster, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Joel Pryzbilla (or Oden when healthy)

Plus Miles, Jack, Blake, and Rodriguez off the bench.

The distributor is what they need to help the young scorers.

i saw that article... if that does work out for the celtics then they beefed up so hard in one offseason to the point where you gotta say they are the favorites to win the east and make a strong run at a championship.. especially if ray allen's ankles are good i'd be worried if i was the rest of the league.. kg pierce and allen... what a nutty trio.

I know about the trade, its not gonna happen because then garnett would only be on the celtics for a year cuz his contract expires in a year.
if i were minnesota i would ask for rajon rondo. this kid can be really good in the future. and if youre minnesota you want to pry away as many good players as you can from boston.

KG wants 5 yrs 125 mill. with that and PP and Allens large contracts, things can be disastrous for boston in the near future. 3 players making like 60-70 million isnt good for the future.

This deal is almost done ... the Celtics are just trying to get KG to sign an extention to keep him in Boston for a longer period of time. In return Minnesota will be getting Al Jefferson, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and maybe even Gerald Green or a future draft pick.

This will put the Celtics in the East Finals and give them a shot at a title. WOW.

When looking at these huge fanatic deals I base my decision on analyzing what each team gets and who it hasta give and if someone gets screwed in the deal. What the hell are the Hornets getting in this trade? They lose out big time. Why would they trade David West? Tim Thomas can't hold a candle to him. Lamar Odom is ok, but Peja fits their system and has done well. Stephon would be a cancer to Chris Paul. You must be a Knicks fan and dreaming buddy. Sorry to be harsh, but at least make the deal look decent.
That trade is ignorant, the only team that can think they get better is the Knicks and that's because they get rid of the cancer known as Zach Randolph.

but that aside, dwyane wade would have fits if riley went ahead on this trade. i'm sure they can turn jason williams' expiring contract into something better than a guy who is like a black hole in the post. granted, he's not a bad player, but i'm not really sure about how well he fits into the heat's revamped roster or with their chemistry. the team just got rid of shaq and brought in the more athletic marion so they could be uptempo, something randolph would have a problem with.

its not outrageous, but not something miami would be interested in. obviously, new york will do anything to get rid of one of their huge contracts, so new york wouldnt be opposed to it.

It doesn't look like a good trade for any of the 4 teams, but I guess the Nuggets and Timberwolves get the better players for the short term. That trade doesn't even make sense for the Knicks.
